The Secretary of State’s adopted dog Taco is a beloved member of the Padilla family. And for Alex Padilla, caring for animals is also a public policy issue. As a member of the Los Angeles City Council, Alex prioritized the construction of a new animal shelter committed to a no-kill philosophy.

Our endorsement of Alex Padilla for Secretary of State encapsulates that mission. As Secretary of State, he is making voting more accessible for all Californians and creating even greater confidence in the integrity of our vote. Re-electing Alex Padilla will give more people who care about animals a voice in California.

Los Angeles County Assessor
We have the honor of endorsing one of our Humane Heroes, Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang.

During his career as a public servant, Jeffrey Prang authored one of the first prohibitions on puppy mill sales, helped pass the first citywide ban of fur sales, outlawed the exploitation of exotic animals and established legal standings for the humane treatment of animals. Jeffrey Prang is truly a hero to animals.
But make no mistake, Prang is not a single-issue candidate. As County Assessor, Prang has been a beacon of fiscal responsibility. His careful administration of his agency serves as the foundation for the $14 billion in revenues that are essential to providing vital programs for all residents, funding public education, guaranteeing public safety and maintaining animal services.
